All pets should have a veterinary examination at least once a year. For many pets, more
frequent visits may be required for follow ups and monitoring of chronic illnesses.
Decisions regarding the frequency of visits should be made based on individual needs of the pet.
Preventive medicine is based on trying to take certain measures in your pet’s health to
prevent and to identify health issues as soon as possible. A good preventive care plan will
include the following areas:
1 - Prevention of infectious diseases through the adequate and customized use of vaccines.
2 – Parasite prevention: every pet should be treated with broad spectrum parasite control medications at least once a year along with annual parasite testing.
3 – Dental Care. See our dental care section for more information.
4 – Behavior recommendations.
5 – Nutrition and diet counseling: Have you ever heard the phrase “You are what you eat”? Guess what, so is your pet. Proper nutrition at different stages of their lives is crucial to the health of your furry friend.
